Adding Variety to a Unit Study
By Marcie Ciampi
An effective Unit Study uses a variety of techniques to address different
learning styles
and different approaches to enhance a
child's strengths.
We all like variety. Change stimulates the neurons in our brain. Trying things in a new way makes us think!
A unit study
taps in on a child's natural instinct to want to learn and create. By offering a variety of ways to learn and process information, you address a child's needs and interests. Where one child might learn best by reading independently and writing in a journal, another might learn best by listening to a story and then acting out what she has heard. Each person learns differently. We are all unique. Take a look at
spectrumhomeschool.com's list of 70 spelling ideas
to see how different needs can be addressed in a variety of ways.
