Learning Style Theory

When reviewing a learning style theory remember:

Hypothesis is a synonym for theory.

A hypothesis is based on interpretation of a situation or a condition, on assumption, speculation, fanciful thought or plausible outcomes.

You make a hypothesis when performing a science experiment. And after you perform the experiment, you’ll make a conclusion based on the evidence you collected and observed.

The learning style theories as a whole can be looked at the same way:

An individual or group hypothesized about how or why something works the way it does and made a conclusion. In the case of learning style theories the test subjects are humans and the researchers are making hypothesis about human behavior.

As we look further at some of the most common learning style theories:

1. Take what you can from the research and findings, and apply what works for your situation.

2. Remember a child will have traits in more than one area.

3. Remember the word theory means an analysis, tool, or explanation based on a set of hypothetical facts. Remember you are looking at a learning style "theory" and go forward from there.
