I am a credentialed teacher in Southern Washington homeschooling my son who is on the autistic spectrum. I have a Masters in Education and years of teaching experience at public schools. I am currently attending college for my Masters Degree in Counseling. Here I present one-of-a-kind, quality educational articles, teaching strategies, tips you can use today, instructional resources, and more, in over one hundred plus pages of useful information. Our mission at Spectrum Homeschool is to assist families and individuals in the field of home education, general education and self-education, by providing free resources, articles, ideas, and information including, but not limited to: curriculum, literature, lessons, health and special needs. The pages of Beyond Basics include personal tips and some of the best resources we have found online. This is a great place for educational games and researching for reports. And an excellent place to find curriculum ideas, worksheets and lesson plans. The Curriculum section includes a look at how to choose curriculum, where to find inexpensive and FREE curriculum, and ways to stretch your dollar. Unit Studies is a unique section which explores the definition of a unit study, instructs how to make a theme-based study, and provides unit studies. What's Your Style is a detailed look at theories regarding how children process information and learn. Teaching Methods explores the abundant and diverse ways parents homeschool and how each method relates to curriculum choice. Inside the pages, we take a look at my wacky explanation of eclectic teaching. About Us contains articles about me, my family and our life. This is a good starting point to learn more about Why I Homeschool. Spectrum Needs provides detailed information about children on the autistic spectrum, and articles and tips related to the challenges of instructing children with special needs. Some of the teaching strategies can be applied to all children. There is an extensive resource list. Language Arts Cafe is a place I list original ideas you can use today in your lesson plans, including over seventy spelling ideas and an introduction to a free spelling program. Family Health is an area to find tips about creating a healthier home environment and life style. There are guest articles, resources, links, and more. This Week's Peek is my favorite spot. My son and I use the pages there. It's where I lay out some of his computer activities and provide a look at our week. Organize It! moves beyond the typical organization articles and explores unique ways to implement organizational ideas in your homeschool program. We love reading our mail.
