homeschool unit studies?
Why should I even bother? There's more than enough curriculum available and making one seems so time consuming. I'm not creative enough! That's too much work! These are all common concerns about homeschool unit studies. But if you take a closer look at an effective theme study, I think you'll see their value. The studies you create and implement in your homeschool program don't have to take a lot of time. They can be as simple or elaborate as you decide. A unit study is: a lesson plan or plan of study A Unit Study has various names. An effective unit study includesa general theme and implements a variety of sensory engaging activities. An ideal unit study offers a lot of variety and will appeal to different learning styles. Thematic units are life-savers if you are teaching more than one child, especially when you are instructing children with different learning abilities, special needs, or siblings of different ages. As a public school teacher, I implemented theme-based studies regularly. I was able to engage individuals who spoke limited English and assist students with attention and processing difficulties. A theme-based study also held the interest of my high-achievers. There are some
benefits to purchasing a unit study. If you choose to make a study, it only takes a little practice and one more added benefit is: you learn the subject you are planning to teach along the way.
