Home School Articles

Why write an article for this website when there are thousands more? Because we are uniquely different than most homeschool websites.

In actuality, we are different than most websites out there.

How?

First off we offer quality in-depth articles.

Second--Our focus is not on making money but helping others. We hold fast to the value of helping others for no other sake but to help.

Thirdly, this website brings in more than homeschoolers; because of my own personal experiences, we offer information in health and special needs, resources substantially lacking in all of the home school sites and books I reviewed. This is a site traditional education teachers and parents turn to for help, not just families teaching at home.

Why guest writers?

Spectrum Homeschool and my blog site "Spectrum Mother" have received continued growth and exposure through online websites, blogs, and word of mouth. I realized, after less than two months of building this website and well over a hundred pages of content, that alas, I am but one person with one brain, incapable of providing people with all the topics about education and health that I would like to be available at this website.

In short, I realized my own limitations and didn't want to work myself to the bone.

If you would like to submit an article to this quality website, please ask yourself the following questions:

Do you have a passion for helping people? Do you have a special in-depth knowledge of a particular subject related to education or health. Do you like to share your knowledge and inspire others? Are you driven by a true compassion and love of people? Do you have a story to share? Do you agree with our mission statement?

"Our mission at Spectrum Homeschool is to assist families and individuals in the field of home-education, general-education and self-education by providing free resources, articles, ideas, and information including, but not limited to, curriculum, literature, lessons, health and special needs."

If you can answer "yes" to the above questions, and you want to support our mission, then we would love for you to submit an article. You don't have to be an expert writer. We are looking for the heart behind the words. Before contributing, please make sure to take a good look around the website and my blog site, to make sure you are comfortable and agreeable with the content.

Submission Guidelines:

1. An article must be your original work and listed under your real name. Please include a copyright statement with the article. (Like the footer at the bottom of this page.) You maintain all rights of ownership of the article. We will not reprint or redistribute without your permission. We will not claim any ownership of your work. We will not earn any money from your work.

2. We reserve the right to not place your article on our website for any reason, but will try our best, in most situations, to let you know the factors leading to our decision. Please take the time to proofread and write several drafts and do not submit articles that I will need to edit and rework. The number one reason for denial will be errors. (I am dyslexic, so a few typos or reversals I can understand.)

3. We ask that the article be:

Limited to one page in most instances

Non-judgmental

Non-religious in content

(I am a religious person myself, but that is not what this website is about. I want to provide a place everyone feels at home. In certain cases religion is applicable: for instance, if your article is about incorporating the Bible into your homeschool teachings or your favorite Christian curriculum. I am open to articles from other countries and religious backgrounds.)

Positive in tone and encouraging

Have a sense of voice or person behind the article

Free of self-promotion and self-interest
(A casual mention of your product or relevant website is acceptable; just don't beat us over the head with it.)

A resource of relevant and practical information

4. We reserve the right to not link your article to your website or blog. We will base our decision on the appropriateness of the content of the link, as we are a family educational website. We will also base our decision on the relevance of the website or blog in relation to the content at Spectrum Homeschool. For instance, if you have a blog about schooling a child with ADHD, this would be deemed highly relevant; however a website about sailboats, no matter how beautiful and exciting, would more than likely not be deemed relevant. Please don't ask us to link to a website or blog that is obviously not related to health, special needs or eduction.

5. We reserve the right to remove your article at any point and for any reason. As we continue to grow or as time passes, we may remove your article. If your article is removed, you may submit another for review.

6. You can submit more than one article, but we would like to provide a variety of outlooks and personal experience.

7. If you are submitting a health article involving supplements, herbs, or other substances, please provide references and resources, as well as your own disclaimer. You can see a sample disclaimer on my blog site.

8. As Spectrum Homeschool continues to grow, and we remove articles, we will give the first twenty individuals who contribute original articles top consideration for submission of new articles.

9. You will receive no compensation for your contributions.

If you are still interested and have reviewed the terms and conditions above, we'd love to have you be a guest writer. Please fill out the contact page below with the following information:

1. Your name

2. Your article idea or complete article

3. A brief introduction about yourself. For example: I am a grandmother of two boys with autism or I am a homeschooling dad with ten years experience.

We will get back to you within 7 business days. Thank you for being a part of Spectrum Homeschool and helping us achieve our mission.

Sincerely,

Marcie and Bob Ciampi
